Content Enablement – well, what’s that?

September 25, 2017 by Justin

While at ZS, my former boss at CareerBuilder gave me a call to let me know she had a role opening up on her team and that I would be an ideal fit for it. “What does it entail?,” I asked. She described a role that was a blend of research, testing, optimization, and consultation that sounded like all the things I love doing and am not too shabby at. When I returned to CareerBuilder in 2016, I was eager […]

Adventures in Podcasting

August 14, 2017 by Justin

Despite being an introvert, I have found myself to be very inquisitive of people in general. Perhaps it’s not so surprising – deflect attention by asking other people more questions to get them to reveal things about themselves instead. As a kid growing up, I always imagined myself having a talk show where I would interview musicians on MTV about their albums and not ask the stupid questions I would hear repeated on every single program while they were doing […]

Proactive social outreach

June 25, 2014 by Justin

Social media may FINALLY be free of buzz term status. The last few years, companies thought that Facebook or Twitter would be their silver bullet to success for every type of conversion or KPI you can think up. But it seems that now, in 2014, many have come to realize that social media channels are places where companies and their most important asset – their people – can interact with consumers. It’s used in some capacity to assist in companies getting users through conversion […]

Agility and why it’s okay to be SCRUM

June 24, 2014 by Justin

Late last year I earned my Certified Scrum Product Owner certification. What does that mean? It means that I am terribly agile. Earlier in the fall of 2013, I started working on a new project to help develop and co-sponsor a new website supported by a new, custom-built learning and content management system (LCMS). Needless to say that my introduction to the Scrum process and all the ceremonies was a bit like baptism by fire. Daily calls, sprint reviews, sprint […]

OneAmerica: Marketing communications & more

February 12, 2013 by Justin

I started working at OneAmerica Financial Partners in the fall of 2006 as a temp in the marketing department. Before my assignment finished, the company offered me a full-time position for a newly created role as a marketing communications strategist. Little did I know that this would happen to me more than once in my career, stepping into a role that was completely new. The good thing about that: you can really only shine. The bad thing about that: if you […]

Banana Republic & CareerBuilder Commercial

February 9, 2013 by Justin

As part of our video series we created with Banana Republic, we shot a quick commercial to launch via social and through email campaigns to promoting CareerBuilder’s partnership with Banana Republic‘s ‘Win Your Salary’ campaign over Labor Day 2012. That video alone got over 5,000 views in a little under three days. Sure, it’s no Bieber music video, but I’ll take my viewers as I get ’em. Here’s the blog post we deployed to our users. Props to P3 Mediaworks […]

Clothes horse.

February 7, 2013 by Justin

7:00 pm to 7:00 am. To be fair, I’m sure a 12-hour video shoot isn’t bad for a first timer. But that’s how my first ‘professional’ camera time happened. In partnership with Banana Republic, CareerBuilder created a series of videos for job seekers that paired job search and workplace wardrobe tips from our pals at The Everygirl. When I eagerly & crazily pitched them the idea to create video content, I had no idea what I was in for. All […]
